A north-east cancer support charity has encouraged residents to support their shops during the countdown to Christmas this festive season.

CLAN Cancer Support is supporting the Charity Retail Association, which represents charity shops across the UK, in its 2018 festive campaign. The organisation has launched a national campaign to encourage people to buy their Secret Santa gifts from charity shops.

The campaign encourages people to visit charity shops when they are shopping to Secret Santa presents and throughout the festive season, and CLAN hopes people will support this locally across CLAN’s charity’s shops in Aberdeen, Ballater, Orkney and Shetland over the next few weeks.

Fiona Fernie, CLAN's head of income generation and business development, said: “Christmas is always a very special time of year and our shops have a wide range of stock which would make for the perfect Secret Santa gift for family, friends or work colleagues.

“The continued support we receive from the communities we work in is very important to us and means we can provide a full range of cancer support services free of charge, which can make a significant and positive difference to people.

“We’re always happy to welcome customers and shopping with us during the Christmas season is the perfect way to help us continue to support people across the north-east, Moray, Orkney and Shetland who have been affected by a cancer diagnosis.”

CLAN Cancer Support is an independent charity which provides comfort, support and information, free of charge, for anyone, of any age, affected by any type of cancer. CLAN aims to support people to reduce anxiety, stress and to increase their ability to cope with the effects of a serious illness.

Based in Aberdeen, the charity covers the whole of north-east Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland. CLAN has a presence in Ballater, Banchory, Buckie, Crimond, Elgin, Forres, Inverurie, Lossiemouth, Turriff, Kirkwall and Lerwick.
