CLAN invites Aberdeen shoppers to sample complementary therapies
A slice of ancient China is being combined with modern Aberdeen this week (September 17-20) as shoppers are given the opportunity to sample the benefits of traditional Chinese medicine.
As part of European Shiatsu Week, CLAN Cancer Support has joined forces with a team of local therapists and is offering taster sessions at the Bon Accord Shopping Centre.
CLAN uses the Shiatsu experts as part of a range of complementary therapies delivered at its Aberdeen base and centres throughout the North-east.
This week’s event will reach a new audience as the public are invited to take part in 15 minute individual sessions, with the CLAN cause boosted through donations.
Shiatsu massages apply pressure to acupuncture meridians and points with hands, fingers and thumbs.
Susan Crighton, fundraising manager at CLAN Cancer Support, said: “Shiatsu has been extremely popular with our clients for a number of years now.
“We ran public sessions last year and the response was fantastic, so we expect the therapists to attract lots of interest this week.”
Martin Julich, one of of the Aberdeen School of Shiatsu therapists used by CLAN, will be part of the team. He said: “The sessions will be nice and relaxing, offering a good introduction to the benefits of Shiatsu. We’re proud of our work with CLAN and this will help raise awareness of that.”
The Shiatsu therapists were at the Bon Accord Centre on Monday and will also host sessions on Wednesday from 11am to 4pm and on Thursday from 11am to 7pm.
