CLAN expands services in Deeside

CLAN Cancer Support is continuing to invest in its network of services in the community, with the further development of its Deeside centre.

The charity has made three new appointments to its team in Ballater, in response to a growing need for the charity’s support and services in the Deeside area.

Gemma Powell, , has joined the charity as Aberdeenshire Area Coordinator and will lead the continued developmet of services across the Deeside area as well as supporting the charity’s fundraising team by offering assistance to CLAN’s supporters in the area.

Joining the team in the Bridge Square charity shop is Brenda Larkin, who has been appointed shop supervisor and Alice Curry who will take on the role of shop assistant. Both appointments will ensure the charity can continue to maximise this key funding stream the charity shop already generates for CLAN.

The charity is also appealing for people to join its team of volunteers in the Ballater shop.

CLAN Cancer Support’s services manager Claire Fraser believes that it is important the charity continues to develop its services as close to people’s homes as possible throughout North East Scotland, Orkney and Shetland.

She said: “CLAN’s Ballater base has continued to grow since it was established in 2004, and we are committed to ensuring that we continue to develop the services we offer locally, providing our clients with local access to as wide a range of our services as possible.

“I am delighted to welcome Gemma, Brenda and Alice to the CLAN team and I am confident that the appointments will play a very important role in the continued development of the range of support we can offer to people in Deeside. We have already been able to increase our complementary therapies on offer by introducing a fortnightly reflexology service.

“Our network of shops provides a vital source of funds which allow us to continue to finance new developments throughout the area.”
