CLAN Cancer Support investment in cancer services in Shetland

As part of its ongoing investment in cancer support in Shetland, CLAN Cancer Support has announced the appointment of two new members of staff who will be based at the charity’s new centre in Commercial Road in Lerwick which is scheduled to open at the end of June. The charity’s drop-in service will be open on Thursdays (10am – 4pm) and Saturdays (10am – 1pm).

Janette Budge, has joined the charity as Shetland Services Coordinator and will be responsible for all CLAN’s services including a ‘Drop In’ service at the centre which will offer support and information.

Also joining the Shetland-based team is Phyllis Stickle, who will take on the vital role of shop and fundraising coordinator. A large part of Phyllis’ work will include working with supporters to maximize fundraising opportunities, recruiting further volunteers to support events locally as well as staffing the charity’s shop.

CLAN Cancer Support’s services manager Claire Fraser, said: “This is a really exciting time for CLAN in Shetland. We have been working towards opening a dedicated facility for some time now and will very soon be in a position to offer our range of services under one roof in the community is just fantastic. It is so important to make sure that people in Shetland facing a serious condition like cancer have access to high quality support services.

“I am delighted to be welcoming Janette and Phyllis to our dedicated team and I am sure they will play an extremely important in the further development of our facility and services in Shetland.”
