Christmas Cracker raises £70,000 for CLAN
Businesses and individuals from across the North-east came together to raise £70,000 for CLAN Cancer Support at a vintage themed event at the weekend.
The Christmas Cracker party saw 385 people attend the event at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on Friday (November 23), in what is the charity’s biggest fundraiser of the year.
The evening, which sold out within weeks of tickets going on sale, saw guests enjoy a three course meal, a silent auction and entertainment from High Time and CLAN's very own Leigh Ryrie.
Susan Crighton, fundraising manager at CLAN Cancer Support, said: “We are over the moon with the total amount raised at this year’s Christmas Cracker.
“The night ran perfectly from start to finish and we’d like to say a massive thank you to the generous North-east public as the level of support shown towards CLAN throughout the night was fantastic.”
The silent auction proved popular with guests, with a stay at a luxury villa in Tenerife raising £4,000 and a long weekend in Doha that fetched £2,000 amongst the highest earning lots.
CLAN Cancer Support is an independent charity which provides comfort support and information, free of charge, for anyone, of any age, affected by any type of cancer. CLAN aims to support people to reduce anxiety, stress and to increase their ability to cope with the effects of a serious illness. Based in Aberdeen, the charity covers the whole of Grampian, Orkney and Shetland. CLAN has a presence in Ballater, Inverurie, Peterhead, Stonehaven, Kirkwall and Lerwick.
