Christmas comes early for CLAN

CLAN Cancer Support has thanked the North-east for its festive cheer as the charity prepares for one of the most important fundraising drives of the year.

The seasonal campaign is vital to supporting the work of CLAN and has been given a head-start this year by the incredible support for the annual Christmas Cracker.

The event raised in excess of £75,000 in 2011 and is on course to shatter that record after all of the tickets for the November 23 gathering at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre were snapped up within weeks of going on sale.

Energy company TOTAL E&P UK Limited is leading the support from the corporate sector, with the company providing generous support for this year’s event.

The Christmas Cracker features a three course meal, silent auction and live entertainment.

Susan Crighton, fundraising manager at CLAN Cancer Support, said: “The Christmas Cracker is the focal point for our festive fundraising, with a very strong programme of events and initiatives this year – including everything from our popular Mini raffle to the sale of fabulous Christmas hampers.

“Each year we are bowled over by the generosity of the North-east public and the incredible response to the launch of the Christmas Cracker is a wonderful example of that.

“To have TOTAL on board is a fantastic boost for the event and for CLAN as a whole. We cannot thank them enough for the backing they have provided and are looking forward to a great night.”

Sandra McIntosh, communication advisor at TOTAL E&P UK Limited in Aberdeen, said: “We are committed to supporting local charities and are delighted to be able to support CLAN with the superb work they are doing across the North-east. The Christmas Cracker is a very popular event and we’re looking forward to playing our part in another great success for CLAN.”
