36th Annual Golf Event Raises £33,000 for Charity

Local golfers teed off in aid of CLAN Cancer Support and children’s medical research charity, Sparks, earlier this month, raising £33,000.

More than 340 people attended the star studded 36th annual Kippie Lodge golf tournament and gala dinner on 4 August. The event, sponsored by Apex Tubulars, Tam International and Petrofac welcomed several celebrity guests to Aberdeen including Dennis Waterman, Phil Daniels, Roger Uttley, Colin Charvis, Willie Thorn, Bryan Gunn, Phil Brown and Gordon Sheddon.

ITS Energy Services emerged victorious from their round at Peterculter Golf Club, collecting the winner’s trophy while a team from Paull and Williamson came second, and the Westend Revellers came in third.

Guests also enjoyed a gala dinner in the grounds of Kippie Lodge, during which individuals bid for a number of items during a special live auction. The auction included one of only eleven signed pictures of Tour de France winner and Olympic gold medallist Bradley Wiggins winning the Tour de France.

CLAN Cancer Support fundraising manager, Susan Crighton, said: “This annual event is undoubtedly one of the most popular events we are lucky to be involved with.

“The event provides the perfect opportunity for teams of friends or colleagues to get together and enjoy the fantastic setting of Peterculter Golf Club, while also supporting a local charity.

“We cannot thank everyone involved with the event enough for their continued support. The support we gain from events such as these play a key role in ensuring we can continue to be in a position to provide the services and support that we do.”
